About Rick Herron

My name is Rick Herron. I am running for State Representative in the 66th district. I humbly and respectfully request your support.

On a personal note, I am an independent computer consultant, 61 years old and have been married to Debbie for 34 years. We have two children whom we’ve homeschooled and four grandchildren. We live on a small farm in Tate Township, where we raise sheep and miniature donkeys.  Upon graduating high school, I enlisted in the Navy and served for six years, most of that time as a medical corpsman. I had several duty stations including a submarine USS Jallao SS-368, and served the last three years with Underwater Demolition Team 21.

I am not a career politician. I am an average citizen who loves liberty and is dumbfounded by our nation’s headlong rush into socialism, bankruptcy and the eventual tyranny that must surely follow.  I am running for this office in the hope that I can do my part to reverse this national suicide.  I cannot allow the sacrifice of all those vets who fought for liberty to be in vain, from Crispus Attucks at the Boston Massacre to the latest hero in Afghanistan.

I have studied politics, government, economics and our founding documents all of my adult life. My approach to government is one of getting back to basics. I believe the purpose and limit of government is to defend our God given rights to Life, Liberty and Property, as prescribed in the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence.

Our Republican Party grew out of the Abolitionist Movement.  It has fallen to the Republicans of our time to put the tyranny of excessive taxation, debt, regulation, abortion, gun control and crony socialism back down the smoking sulfurous pit from whence it came.
